Trujillo, Honduras Facts |
|
· You can see the Spanish Colonial influence through out the city by the architecture of homes, the church, and the old Spanish Fortress, Santa Barbara, which has gone through a renovation recently. The renovation brought a museum which you may visit and see the ancient Spanish artifacts. · In addition to Trujillo’s rich history, the tomb of William Walker is located in the city. William Walker was an American mercenary on a mission to gain control of Central America. He became very powerful and conquered Nicaragua but his reign ended with the Honduran government executing him in Trujillo. · The city of Trujillo offers all types of tourist attractions ranging from relaxation to adventure. You can simply relax at the beach with your cocktail in hand or venture out to the reef or jungles in a matter of minutes. · Population 30,000 · The locals are friendly, humble, and only speak Spanish so you better take some refresher courses:) Common sense tells us not venture out in unfamiliar places, but if you are to do so we would recommend that you go in a group. |
